LGID Expertise

The Department of Local Governance and Integrated Development (LGID) is designed to strengthen the civil society sector in Albania, develop broad community-based partnerships and build a safer community environment. Since the inception of the organization in 1999, such efforts have focused on the improvement of local governance through community development, capacity building for community-based groups and contribution toward decentralization processes.
Most recently, the department has consolidated the Integrated Rural Development element within its program area. In order to carry out the objectives related to LGID, IDM has developed an extensive partnership with other actors, including Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Agriculture Food and Consumer Protection,  local government units throughout Albania, municipal councils, regional councils, prefects, law enforcement agencies, education departments, environment agencies,  as well civil society organizations and businesses.
