CESA Expertise

CESA builds on a prominent legacy of achievements, influence, contribution and partnerships established through a long experience of the Institute for Democracy and Mediation particularly in the areas of security, regional cooperation and integration processes. Since its formal establishment in early 2008, CESA has further upgraded this experience through deepening and advancing the current intervention in these areas as well as through expanding its scope of work also on key developments in related areas, particularly from the perspective of EU integration and challenges.

More specifically, under its programme activities CESA delivers a wide range of services as follows:

Studies, research & policy work

  • Advancement of studies, approaches and methodologies for research in the security area and EU / integration related affairs

  • Carry out analysis and research on key issues related to Albania’s and WB’s rapprochement with EU under the political criteria, security, defense and broader home affairs policies

  • Develop policy options based on continuous monitoring and assessment of the implementation of current strategic framework

Assistance to institutional & capacity building

  • Contribute to improved capacities of Albanian institutions and other stakeholders in the security area from the perspective of EU/integration through direct capacity building and support

  • Encourage informed debate and consultation practices between key institutions and non-state actors influencing or impacted by EU policies / European integration process

  • Promotion of European best practices related to the development and consolidation of institutional capacities and shaping a national perspective of actions and strategies to address key challenges of pre- and post accession in the Euro-Atlantic communities
